Weekly Reader's Response Due Friday 5/20/11

We are preparing for our "Living Museum" presentations next week.  As you think about the biographical subjects you have been reading about, what stands out most to you about the person?  Do you feel like the person is indeed a "hero" as we have discussed in class?

Going back to the museum, what do you know about museums?  When you have visited a museum in the past, what have you seen, learned, and observed while you were there?  How will what you know about museums impact your presentation next week?

Follow our blogging guidelines when you are writing your responses.  Your response should answer all parts of the post in complete sentences.

  1. I think Alexander the great is a hero, but also a tyrant. I only think he is a tyrant to the people he conquered. The rest of the places, he is the best leader and war hero. I don't know much about how the museums will be set up, but I know they will be set up around the hero's life. If I knew a lot more about living museums, I think it could impact the way I am effected about them because i would be more enthusiastic about them.

  2. the most part that stands out to me about Theodore Roosevelt is that he became president and he went to Harvard college. And i think that he is a hero. i know that museums have information of people and what they did. like we went to the museum at mount Vernon and that was about George Washington.

  4. I am very nervous for the living Museum. The thing that stands out most about my person is that he was the 2nd president of the United States. Yes I firmly believe he is a hero. However he is more historically significant. The things I know about Museums is that they are educational, and that they can be very fun. The last time I went to the museum is when all of 5th grade hade our trip to Mount. Vernon. I learned about Gorge Washington. The way that knowing what museums are like is by being very quiet and kid friendly.

  5. The most that stands out for Benjamin Franklin and what people think when they here his name is that he discovered electricity. I think he is a hero but that is just my oppion. I know museams are loaded with artifacts from the past and tons of infromation. Come to think of it I don't think I have ever been to a museam. What I know about museam's that will help me is that i have to be entirley still until they push my button and i can't talk either.

  7. My person is definitely considered a hero. He is the person who stopped all segregation against black people, you know Martin Luther King Jr. .At the museums that i have been to are very realistic and that don't move an inch until you press a button in some sort. Also its all serous stuff no joking. There is probably going to be a lot more people than normal.

  10. There are a few things that stand out for my person. One is She got a lot of jobs as a kid. Another one is she was deported to Siberia by German soldiers during the beginning of world war II. also that she wrote lots and lots of childrens books. Lastly that she died at the age 79. That's a long period of living. The only reason she is a hero is that she lived to tell her story.

  11. Amelia Earhart has been indeed a hero. The thing that stands out the most is that she was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic.
I've only been to a museum when I was about 4 and the museum I went to was about airplanes. I learned a lot about airplanes and pilots. Amelia Earhart fits about the museum I went to!
