When I choose a novel usually I first read the summery of the book. If I still cant decide then I would read the first or second page. Also to shorten out the number of books to choose from I would sort them by me two favorite genres, Fantasy and Mystery. I find that when you have to stop at a certain chapter is difficult and a pain because what if that chapter you have to stop at is just getting to a good part. But I really enjoy reading with a group because if you don't get something maybe someone else in the group does.
ReplyDeleteI prefer books about sports. I feel fine about literature circles I enjoy them, because I enjoy reading new books.
ReplyDeleteWhen I select a novel I start out by reading the "blurb"(the paragraph on the back that tells you about the book) because it will tell you a lot of information about the book. Theres no genre i would prefer over another I like them all the same. I think it might be fun because we each read the same book but we discuss different parts (or favorite parts). There is no aspects I would change either.
ReplyDeleteThe strategies I use are plan, purpose, skim, reread, and preview. The type of genre I would prefer is realistic fiction. I would prefer realistic fiction because it's a true story. What I find difficult is the summarizing. What I find fun is when we read the paragraph or the passage. Yes because I think that there should only be three people in group so that everyone gets a chance to read the paragraph or the passage. Lastly, I think that every week a person would get a job to do. Then, the next week the person gets a different job then last weeks job.
ReplyDeleteThe strategies I use are plan, and purpose. I prefer mystery. I think the summarizing and the fun thing is the jobs. I would change the reading. We should read in are heads and they we share with your group what you learned.
ReplyDeleteI think the hard part is that you have to be done reading a number of pages because when you read your own books you can stop when ever you want because you might have basketball practice something else.i read the first page and if there 5 or more words then it is two hard but if there is 2-3 words you don't know then it is just right but if there is less then 2 then it is two easy.my favorite genre is mysteries I like the the box cart children books.if you miss something someone can fill you in.
ReplyDeleteThe strategies I use to find a book are I read the first few pages, I read the back. Also I look at the front cover to see if it would be something I like. The genre I like is realistic fiction. I think literature circles are fun because I like reading books with a group. The thing I found difficult was that you have to read a lot of pages when you have a lot of homework. The rules I would want to change are making the group read less for one night.
ReplyDeleteI like sports books for my reading time and also I perfer mystery books to read. You should not pick a book to hard or to easy you should pick a book that is just right for you. Also you get to pick the book you want to read and read with your group. When i read a novel i preview it the read it.
ReplyDeleteI usually preview it to figure out what the book is like. First, I look for the title and author. Next, I look for how long the book is (so I know I can accomplish reading it at a decent time, or if I want to read that long of a book). I then, look at the summary (on the back cover or right inside the book)to see what the book is something that I want to read.
ReplyDeleteI don't really prefer any genre, I just like books that are interesting to me. I like mysteries and books by someone like "Judy Blume". I might even like other books I mostly just like these books.
I like literature circles for every part of it. I mostly like talking about a book that I like to read. I really like literature circles.
The only thing I want is to be reading a book that is I'm interested in. I don't want Mrs. French to assign us to a group.
I read the back cover only if the novel is a paper back. If the novel is a hard back I read the flaps and the back cover. The thing I find difficult about literature circles is being together on band days because I am in band and I could miss literature circles.
ReplyDeleteWhen I choose my books I use a lot of different strategy's. My first strategy is to look at the cover and title. Then I look at the back to read the little summary of the book. I usually eliminate most of my books when I read the back because that's when I decide if I like the book or do not.
ReplyDeleteI look at the cover and title but I also read the back. Also I usually get books from other people and ask their opinion. The genre I prefer is mystery but I will read most other books as long as they are so far fetched that they could never be true.I think that being the team leader is fun.The most difficult job we did last year was a newsletter.I think the groups should be more with people you know will participate. For example if you have a book group with 5 girls and 2 boys you'll know that the boys will not participate as much.
ReplyDeleteWhen I choose a book I use the strategies of Previewing, planning, and setting a purpose. The genre I like is fantasy like the Percy Jackson series. The fun thing about literature circles are you get class time to relax and read and there really isn't anything I don't like about them
ReplyDeleteWhen I chose a book I first look and the back summary. If I like what it is about than I keep the book and if I don't like what its about than I don't keep it. If I cant find out if a like it or not from the back cover than I read the first few pages.I like sport non-fiction books. I like literature circles especially because I got a good book. It keeps you from having so much homework at night. The only reason why I don't like it is because if you miss one day then you have a lot to read and a lot of extra homework.
ReplyDeletei find literature circles fun by reading books at first you might not think the book will be interesting but when you read far into the book you start to like it.the difficult part would be the jobs because you might not understand the job.i wish i could change the people in the group not all girls or all boys, i would make a mixture of both boy and girl.
ReplyDeleteI like the genre fiction but when it is a chapter. I also like books that are scary.I think the difficult thing about literature cicles is that we have to get the right amount of reading in and have to get a job done every night. The fun part abut it is you get to work with a group. The thing I would want to change is to have one more group member in our group, three seems to little.
ReplyDeletei use plan and preview.i prefer sports books. i find literature circles fun because you get to be in a group and talk about it with all of your friends.
ReplyDeletepinkponies3 i like your post because you have nice strategies. i also like your genre choice.
ReplyDeleteI like working with groups because when we get into middle will be working together a lot and its really fun.I wonder how hard the work sheets will be.
ReplyDeletewhen i pick a book, i preview the book. i also read the back of the book if it has summary on the book. i find some of the jobs easy and some jobs a little hard. Also i like some of the books that i read in literature circles.
ReplyDeleteliterature circles are fun because you get to read and work with a group. the hard part is that you have to read a lot every night. If I had to change something it would be you had more time to read and do you're job.
ReplyDeleteI use the strategies of seeing if it's interesting in what I like.Like if it's about sports like baseball, basketball, football, etc.Yes there is a particular genre. It is sports.I find that understanding My Job on the contract is difficult.I find that the book is fun.no there are no aspects of my group I would change.
ReplyDeleteI like the genre fiction books. I like mystery, and scary books. What i think is hard in literatures is staying on track. The fun part is reading the book you like and connecting with it. What I would like to change is the jobs because they are very easy to me. Also to only have 4 people to a group because when it is bigger you would get off track.
ReplyDeleteThe strategies i use when i find a just right book. First i read the back cover to see if i am gone to like it. Next i read the first couple pages to see if it is to easy,to hard,or if it is just right. last i look to see who else has read this book and if they liked it
ReplyDeleteWhen I pick a novel I always choose how good it looks by the cover and the back cover.I also pick books by certain genres. My favorite genre is realistic fiction or fiction. Something fun about literature circles is that your whole group gets to read the same book as you.Something difficult is you have to read it all by some day soon. I wish that we could read however many pages we want to read all by ourself.
ReplyDeleteWhen I pick a book first I preview the back cover, the front cover and the first couple pages or the first chapter. The books genres
ReplyDeleteI prefer most are fiction books but I will read non-fiction occasionally or if I have to. The most thing I find difficult about literature circles is keeping up with all the work you get but, the fun thing about literature circles is reading the book you want and it turning out to be one of the best books you've read. I do not have any aspects I would wish to change.
Sometimes I go back and reread when I forget what happen.Other times I make notes on sickie note pads. Also I summarize to remember what happens next. But the most thing I do of all is predict. Those are the strategies I use the most when I read.
ReplyDeletePinkpojnies14, I also like scary books. I disagree with you about more people because the more people are the most distraction. I know because there is 6 people in our group and it's a little hard.
ReplyDeletefirst I read the back cover and if that interest me I read a couple pages if it still interest me i read the book.
ReplyDeleteThe type of genre I prefer are comics. I find the jobs difficult because somtimes two people have the same jobs you can get mixed up. What is fun about lititure circles is disscusing the book like what you've read. There is nothing I would like to change about lititure circles.
