5th graders, you have had an opportunity to read many types of poetry over the last several weeks.
Which type do you like the most? Is it narrative, haiku, diamante, cinquain, or free verse?
Tell us why you like the structure of the poem type and if there are any poems you especially
like that you have read.

My favorite is free verse because it is fun just to right about any thing that happens to appear in your mind. And you don't have to rhyme if you don't want to.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite type of poetry is free verse. I like free verse because it can be about anything. Also the other types of poetry are really boring. Free verse has rhyme most of the time which is what I like about it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind of poem is a shape poem because I like the way that the shapes are.For example if your talking about kites the shape could be in the shape of a kite.I like to read poema that are fun to read.My favorite poem is 100 hairy savages.
ReplyDeleteI like "free verse" poems because there is no special order, it could be completely off- topic, there is no rules and every free verse poem is different from the rest! Here is what I don't like about poems: they don't include much math or science, but I like the rest.
ReplyDeleteI liked Diamante because it has the tittle and then words that describes it and then you change to another word at the end.I liked a Hundred Harry Savages.

ReplyDeleteI liked reading free verse because I just liked reading about other peoples interests and I also just liked how many different topics there were in free verse. My all time favorite was diamante because the shape of it was a diamond. I liked the antonym diamante poem the best because you were comparing one thing to another thing like soccer and football of dogs and cats. The name of the poem I best like is mothers day present about a boy and a mom and a garlic rock( regular rock)
ReplyDeleteI like free verse because you can do anything.It doesn't matter what shape it is or syllables or word and it doesn't have to rhyme you can do anything you want. my favorite poem that is free verse is THE NEW KID
ReplyDeleteI like free verse the best because i like when you can right whatever you want. And to read other peoples ideas. And a lot of other kind of poems have certain rules. Like comparing two different things. The poetry i have bin reading is sports such as soccer and foot ball. Any other kind to.
ReplyDeleteI like free verse the most because i can right about anything .I also liked how you can make it any stanzas that you want .Also it can be about anything .The poem that i liked was the one about the trees when they when they lost their leaves.

ReplyDeletei like poems because i like rhyming words and repeated words in poems and i like the structure of the poem. I like diamante because my birthstone is diamond and I like it. The poem that I read was Me I Am and i like that poem.
My favorite type of poem is free verse. I like it because it doesn't have to rhyme. I liked the poems we read recently like the "Friend" poem and the poem "A Year". I also like Haiku but free verse is both more fun and easier to write.
ReplyDeleteI like rhyming poems because they sound cool when they say it. I read one that had some rhyming words. Its called the ME I AM. It has a lot of rhyming words.

ReplyDeleteI liked Diamante because we could make our own in the computer lab and write our own poems it was fun I also like reading diamante and I like how Diamante is shaped.
ReplyDeleteI like the shape of a poem because I think it makes it more fun to read in a shape. The poem that I especially like is Cuckoo by Jack Prelusky. It’s about a cuckoo clock marrying an octopus and making a cukoocloctopus.

ReplyDeleteI agree with pink ponies #16 because she/he is right when she/he said when you are reading a shape poem about kites usually there would be a drawing of a kite, another example is a swirl. The writers do that just to get the readers attention.

I like poetry because some poems are really funny and sad and there are more like school ones lake ones base ball ones all kinds of poems like I read a baby one that I read to a partner when it was a fun day and I read other poems that Mrs. french gave us and I read a rule one that said no of every thing not to do like no gum and more and there is much much more poems that you can read to you or teacher or parents or grand parents.

ReplyDeleteI like diamante poems because they have a interesting shape.I like the diamante poems with the opposites because its interesting to see how people compare things good or bad.The football and golf poem I liked because I don't like golf but I like football like the author of that poem.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite type of poem is a haiku. I like a haiku because they are short and fun to read. I also like a haiku because its fun to use your brain to think of a topic that has to be five syllables seven syllables then another five. Its challenging but fun!

There also has to be 5 syllables in the 1st line, 7 syllables in the second line and 5 syllables in the last sentence. Also the poem has to be about nature and nature is fun to write about.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite type of poem is free verse. I like free verse because you don't have to follow a rule,you can write anything you want. So it makes writting poems that much easier. But for some reason there haven't been that many free verse poems that I have liked.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE diamante poems because it starts with a simple subject and and end with somthing completely opposite then the onethe poem starts with. For example if you start with nice you could end with a subject like mean!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite type of poem is free verse, my favorite poem is jelly fish in The New Kid On The Block by Jack Perlutscy. There is no specific structure of the poem I just like the poem.

I like diamante the best. I like the structure because it's shaped like a diamond and diamonds are one of my favorite shapes. I also like how some talk about one topic and then in the middle it changes to the opposite topic. Some stay the same topic the whole poem. I don't remember any diamante poems I've read so there aren't any I like.

I like the structure because the shape of the poem is a dimond and a dimond is my 3rd favorite shape. you can compare somthing that is interesting and somthing not interesting like Baseball and golf. Golf is like the boringest thing to play and Baseball is more fun to play. Also i have done a diamonte poem before and diamonte poems are cool.
