Talking about what books you're reading is what its all about!
Think about the book talk discussions that I modeled for you this week with The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements. Can you think of books you have read recently that you want to share? Tell us about experiences you have had in the past sharing books you have read. For example, have you participated in a book club or literature circles? Explain why you liked or disliked the experience and what you think could be done to make the discussions more interesting.

I cant really think of any books right now to share but i am starting a new book and it is called Sluggers.Last year i have shared a book and it was my literary circle book called Bridge to Terabithia.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike literature circles because when we did it last year is was crazy everyone was fighting over jobs to do. We barley had any time (because of fighting.)It was to crazy.
ReplyDeletei want to share the million dollar throw by mike lupica. Last year I did book clubs last year in school i read the book Rules. I did not like this because the book was not interesting i think it would be better if we could choose any book.
ReplyDeleteThe book I want to share is The Capture. I read this book in a book club at our very school.I liked the experience because I thought it was fun reading the book and hanging out and talking about the book with my friends. To make the discussions more interesting we should read the first little introducing page of the book.
ReplyDeleteNo I can't think of any books that I have read recently that I would like to share. But I am starting a new book called ? I forget the name of the book. I have never been in a book club or literature circles. I have only shared a book once and that was THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE.
ReplyDeleteI read "The Wish" last year in book club. What I liked most about it was we had a bag of question cards and we would pull a card out and read it aloud and we had to answer the question about our book. It was fun!! We should do that in Book Talk!
ReplyDeleteI like literature circles because of a lot of reasons. One reason I like literature circles is because it feels like you have a job. Also you can talk about your book with your friends and not people who you don't want to talk to. I don't like it for a lot of reasons too. 1 reason is that we already of a enough stuff to do. Also it makes want to rush your book.
ReplyDeletei recently read "My Brother Sam is Dead" and it's a really good book. it's about a boy named Sam and he has a brother named Tim and Sam wants to go to war and i think it's interesting. I'll tell \you the rest when i present my book!
ReplyDeleteI like the book "Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets" because it has much more scenes than the movie. 1: there was a whole chapter about a ghost party, 2: there is a character that is not in the movie named Peeves, 3: there is a paper clutched in petrified Hermionie's hand, and 4:Harry killed the baskalisk in a corner not on top of a statue. I wonder why voldemort dosn't just regen his power privately.
ReplyDeleteI liked the literature circles in fourth grade I did it. My group had the book Joey Pigza Loses Control. We had different jobs such as reporter, timeline etc.I loved that book.
ReplyDeleteI want to know if you can pick the classes you want to do like i want to do Spanish?
ReplyDeleteI liked literature circles in 4th grade and we did a book called "Pictures of Hollis Woods".We did jobs and I think that if there were more jobs it would be more exiting. My favorite job was leader because you had a important responsibility.
ReplyDeleteI read My Brother Sam is Dead in literature circles last year. It was a good book, but really sad. It was about a kid named Tim who's brother Sam goes of to war and Tim explains his life back in the 1900's or the 1800's and how it was hard.
ReplyDeleteI liked literature circles from last year it was really fun. We did a bunch of diferent work sheets. Also,we a group captain/leader between each descusion that would ask us questions about the book. Lastly, we would have to complete a certain amount of pages for our book and we got a team grade not independent grades.
ReplyDeleteI have read Hatchet I read it in literature circles in fourth grade it was a good book there were different jobs like the leader.I liked it because it was fun for a while and it also helped me finish a book. The book was great it had so many adventures in it! I loved literature circle.
ReplyDeleteI want to share this book I just started reading called The One Left Behind. So far, there are these two sisters,Mandy and Angel and they have two brothers. Angel just died from food poisoning about a year ago. Mandy's mom and dad are on a vacation, one brother is at a party and the other is out camping. None of the family is coming back into another day. At night she hears a noise and does not know what it is. I feel OK about book talks because I like sharing my book.
ReplyDeleteI love literature circles it is my favorite subject. I want to tell you a book I am reading in literature circles it is called kensukes kingdom it has about 134 pages in it and it is about a kid and his dog fall off there parents boat and they meet a guy there who is old short and Russian but can speak some English but he helps them survive by giving him red bananas raw fish water a pillow carpet and sheet so he could have company but if the kid wants to stay alive he is not aloud to make a fire.
ReplyDeleteI have been in a book club. In fact i am in a book club here at OES. I think it is very cool Because usually you do not get to talk to people about a book Because they aren't reading the same book as you. That is why i really like book clubs.
ReplyDeleteIn middle school how much time do to get between classes? How much homework do you have?
ReplyDeleteI liked and I disliked literature circles. I disliked it because some of the books are really long so we had to read more in a certain amount of time and it took up alot of my free time. I liked literature circles because in some books it gets really exciting to find out what is about to happen. I think I dislike literature circles more because you don't really get to read the book you read for fun.
ReplyDeletei liked literature circles in fourth grade. My group did Stone Fox and it was a real good.My favorite job was the news reporter because you got to tell what the part of the book you read to the rest of the other group members.
ReplyDeletei really enjoy literature circles and book clubs. like in book club last year i read The Wish it was a really good book. it had those parts everyone loves(funny parts) and it has those romantic parts that some girls like.
ReplyDeleteI have read Pictures of hollis Woods witch me and my group did as a play and it was very fun. I liked the idea of doing book talkes but I am not that easy to forse to do it because I'm not shy but I dont really like getting up in frount of the classroom alot. i think it would be fun to to but mostly fun to watch others tell aboout there book! I think it would also be fun if we make a little skech abot thr book with some friends after we finsh presenting if they want,
ReplyDeleteThe book I Shared is Sabotaged by Margret Petterson Haddix and I enjoyed sharing it as along as listeing to other peoples books. I think that it was a great way to get suggestons for other books.
ReplyDeleteI have read two really great books lately. One is 'A dog called Kitty' and the other is ' The Mystery at the Fair.'
ReplyDeleteI am in a book club with all my cousins. The first presentation I did was a sandwhich poster. The sandwhich poster had the plot, theme, main idea, and the information about the book on different parts of the sandwhich. Anyway, I really enjoy being in the book club (I am just a person that is shy when you have to present things though).
I have read the Harry Potter books and I would like to use those in the Book Chat. I have also read some other good books that I would like to do. I have done many Book Chats before so i am feeling good about Book Chats
ReplyDeleteFirst what i read for book talk is The Little's in the Big storm also what i read was Rules there both great books.
ReplyDeleteThe Book that I would like to do is "Bridge to Terabethia" because it has a lot of action and its a classic. Last year we did Book Talks also I like them
ReplyDeletethe seekers I like it because it is fun and more of an adventure and it is great it has plant animals and nature all threw the book
ReplyDeleteI have participated in literature circles in 4th grade. I am doing I.Q. 2. It is awesome!
ReplyDeletethe book I would like to share is called The Star fisher. I have never been in a book talk before but i do have an idea. I think we should include activities in our book talks that we can do at our desks.
ReplyDeleteRecently I did my own book talk about Jake Drake Class Clown. I liked this book talk because I really liked my book because it could happen in real life. The second reason I liked my book talk is because I love to present.
ReplyDeleteFor my book talk I am going to do Diary of a Wimpy kid The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinny. In the 4th grade I participated in the Oakdale book club a few times and I liked the experience but I think they should have had more of a variety of books. Other than that I really liked the experience and cant wait to do it this year.
ReplyDeletefrench banana2 I read Pictures of Hollis Woods as well. I liked quite a bit. I think that your picture idea is a really good one. I don't like getting up in front of people either. Though I do enjoy listening as well
ReplyDeleteI agree with PinkPonies30 that Harry Potter 2 is a good book and that Voldemort should rise to power quietly.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 44 because not always do you get to talk about books in public.
ReplyDeleteThe book I would like to share is called stone fox. I did book talk and used the book stone fox.I don't have a idea because I think what we have is alsome.
