What information helps you determine the stated main idea of a text when you read?

  12. I would usually find the subject because the main idea is supporting the subject or has something to do with the subject. Or to help me find the main idea is to look for a lot of repeated words or what they talk about in the text.

  16. It is usually the sentence where all the details are about. Like "I like pie. Apple pie is good." The fact i like pie would be the the stated main idea.

Well, i am reading the Harry Potter series, and i saw a lot of reapeated words and some of them are:Harry Potter and magic so clearly i could guess that Harry Potter is about Harry Potter and his magic. And also the name of the chapters help me. For example:the chapter was called "the letters from no one" and so far what i have read is Harry Potter is getting these letters from no one.

  24. I can ushally determine the stated main idea because it is ushally on the first page. And most of the time the book will tell you what the books going to be about.

  29. The information that helps me determine the main idea is in either the first Paragraph or in a book the first couple of pages you will figure out the stated main idea. If you cannot find it keep reading it will eventually be there.An example is cheese its if it says chees its are yummy and it says I love cheese its the stated main idea is cheese its.

  39. I know what you mean when you say "I use the first and last sentence"because the first sentence has the topic which is a part of the stated main idea and usually the last sentence is a repeat of the first sentence except in different words.

  42. In a book to find the main idea, you could look in the first or last sentence for a clue on what the narrrator is tring to tell us.

  46. I think that previewing and sciming through the book gives me a good hint what the book is about and I can see if im going to like the book.

  48. I usaly find the main idea in either the first couple sentences,the back cover, or the last few sentences.The main idea helps me see if the book was poor, bad,okay,better,good,or great.

  56. The reason how i get the main idea,i preveiw the text.Then i look for the characters name to look for the main character of the text.then i read the book if i had to awnser alot of questions on a peice of paper i know you could get it right.

  57. The thing that i found exiting was in diary of a wimpy kid new york tims #1 best seller. Im kinda like greg hefley the main character. He gets in alot of trouble with his brother and me and my brother get in alot of fight and so does greg. His friend rowley is like my friend hunter.Its cool how me and greg have alot in comon.
