  2. In the text you get the subject and details of the text. Then you can get the idea of the text. Also, with the repeated and bold words you get what the text is about.

  3. I just finished the book GOOSEBUMPS: THE SCARECROW WALKS AT MIDNIGHT by:R.L.Stine
One of the parts of the book suprised me because of how all of a sudden a scarecrow jumps out at him or starts to charge towards him. The whole time that the boy in the story should be terrified that it is a real scarecrow that is trying to get him he's not scared at all because he thinks its just one of his cousins Sticks.

  4. I just started reading the book A Series Of Unfortunate Events and I really like the book so far. I was thinking by the picture on the front and by the words they were using that they were very polite and this was happening a little bit longer ago. So the children were going to a man's house named Mr. Montgomery. When i read the name and read that he was a scientist I would exspect that he would be tall very stiff and proper. But when the kids met the man he was short and chubby and very friendly. He also told the kids to adress him as Uncle Monty. Now this really surpriesed me because he is a rich scientist and herpetologist and is not at all the man I expected him to. Also I didnt think of him to be so friendly because even as a small and chubby to sort of rude to kids because some adults that are scientist or herpetologist or have a very hard job do not like kids being around.

  6. Question: How did your preview help you select the book you are reading now?

I picked the book “Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone” by: J.K Rowling, because a lot of people say it is a good book. I also once read the first 50 pages of the book. I then abandoned the book. People say to keep reading the book because all of the other books after that are so good. So that is one of the ways it helped me preview. The second reason is before I read the book I saw all the movies. The movies were very, very, very good. So I decided that I would start the series thinking it would be really good. I am really glad that I picked up the book after I had abandoned it. The last reason is that I am reading some other books that are not really for my age level and Harry Potter is perfect for three reasons: 1, it is very long and appropriate length. 2, It is more of a challenge to read with more age appropriate words.3, and last it is a good book to read. I can enjoy it much more than I could then when I was a little younger. I am very glad I picked up that book.

  7. How did your preveiw help you select the book you are reading now?
I picked the book Nancy Drew:Secret of the Spa because when I read the back cover it seemed like a good book. There was also a paragraph or 2 about the book on the inside cover. My older sister also said it was a good book.So I tried it and I was so glad I did. Those books are perfect for me to read in every way. They are not too challenging but there also not too easy. They are also very appropriate.I love Nancy Drew books.

  8. Write about something in the book that suprised you or you found interesting.

What suprises me was that when I was reading the book Nancy Drew:uncivil acts by Carolyn Keene they made the thief very obvious throughout the book.
What I found interesting was that they were very creative with names and what the characters did and said.It made the book much, much better.

  9. Another part of my GOOSEBUMPS: The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight book by:R.L. Stine that suprised me was when it said that when Stanley put the scarecrows to sleep then Mark fell asleep or as the book said he "dozed off". Then when Stanley brought the scarecrows to life again so he could "take controll" of them Mark awoke. To me that seemed rather suspicious that when the scarecrows fell asleep Mark fell asleep and when the scarecrows awoke Mark awoke. I really think that if there were a second book of this topic then at the end they would find out that Mark is really the leader of the scarecrows and as long as he is alive then he will continue creating scarecrows and causing them to walk at midnight.

  10. A connection that I made with my book GOOSSEBUMPS: The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight is that the main character always spooks at every little rustle in a bush just like me. Its kind of funny how even if its just a squirrel I will freak out and start runing and screaming thinking that someones chasing me. When its actually happening its not that funny but when I look back at it after the fact its hilarious.

  11. I choose the book GGOSEBUMPS: The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight because I saw the cover picture and the image of a frowning almost living scarecrow on the front made me think "Hmmm this looks really cool, and interesting I think I might like to read this!!" Sure enough I finished the book in only 2 nights for about a half an hour each night. That meant that I really liked the book.

  12. Mrs.French The book I just started is ONE DAY AT HORROR LAND.This book is by R.L. Stine.I just started the book but it is pretty good so far.My favorite part is when they decide to go down the Doom Slide. If you pick the wrong slide you will slide forever to your doom.Or so it says that Clay the one that gets scared at everything chose slide number 10 the doom slide. He was sliding for a very long time. Then Luke and his sister went down the doom slide to find him. They found him at the bottom. The slide brought them to a different part of the park. I was kind of upset that something a little scarier then a freaky ride did not happen. But thats okay.I am predicting that at the end of the book something bad might happen. The girl at the begining said that they did not know they would be lying in there grave.I think the worst possible ending would be everything is okay and they walk around in a pretty medow and sing. I am almost 100 percent sure that will not happen but if it does I think I might be done with GooseBumps Books. But if it does not happen I look to keep reading them.I like how they are creepy but are not that realistic.

  14. I am reading stealing south by Katherine Ayers. It is about a slave stealer who is trying to bring a slave up to Canada. The thing that surprised me is the ending it ended by the slave stealer getting a concussion and him in the hospital. I thought it would end by him and his whole family in Canada. In the epilogue it talked about his family in Canada.

  20. I am in the middle of reading PEAK by Roland Smith. So far the most surprising thing I found in this book was that a 14 year old kid was illegally climbing buildings in New York City. If I was 14 I would be really afraid of climbing buildings. Also,It was snowing plus it is illegal to climb buildings! In my whole lifetime I probobaly still will be afraid of climbing mountains or buildings.Later the cops soon find him and send him to juvy.

  23. The preveiw I did(wich was reading the back of the book) helped me decide to read "May Bird and the Ever After" by: Jodi Lynn Anderson. I like to read fantasy/magic books and that's what May Bird and the Ever After is. A magic story. So I chose this book because it's a magic story and I like those storys, also because the characters are real and emotional. The characters aren't perfect because they're magic, they have flaws just like us. That's also why i chose this book. And when I read the back of this book I could tell that big and surprising things would happen and I had to know what happen. So those are the reasons why I chose to read May Bird and the Ever After by Jodi Lynn Anderson.

  30. Another connection I made to my book GOOSEBUMPS: The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight by R.L. STINE is that when he goes anywhere alone when it is dark out he looks all around him because he always thinks that someones watching or following him and I freak out like that too. The only difference from to the book is that usually no ones following or watching me but with him there is always somebody or something watching or following usually chasing him.

  32. When I previewed the book" The Million Dollar Strike" I looked at the front and back covers. When I looked at the front I saw the picture of a boy bowling so then I knew that the book was about bowling. Then when I looked at the back, I read the description about the book. After I previewed the front and back covers of the book, I read the first chapter of the book. After that I infered that the book was about bowling.

  33. Question: Write about something in the book that surprised you or you found interesting.

The title to my book is A to Z MYSTEY THE DEADLY DUNGEON by Ron Roy. In my book there is a dungeon were Josh, Dink, and Ruth Rose found green parrots and found clues to find who the poacher is. I thought like Josh and Dink that it was their friend Wallis’ brother Walker (a lobster fisher). But at the end they caught Wallis’ friend Rip (also a lobster fisher) red handed and I was like wow!

  34. How did your preview help you select the book you are reading now?

I am reading the 7th Harry potter by J.K Rowling the reason I sarted to read it is because my mom and my brother said it was FANTASTIC book. I also read all the other books and they were great. The 3rd reason I picked this book is I love that it has a little fantasy but still able to have action. Like when they are on bromsticks flying, there is the fantasy but they are shoting spells, there is the action. Last when I am looking for a book I don`t look for a book to big or to small the last Harry Potter is the perfect size. I dont think I will be abandaning this book any time soon.

  35. I am reading the book A Series Of Unfortunate Events and it is quite interesting. There is a part in the book where the kids 4th cousin 3 times removed threatened to steal their parents fortune and kill the children after the parents died in a big fire. I thought that was interesting because if I were a family member to someone I would never threaten to kill or take their fortune. In the book there was another part where Count Olaf,(the cousin) gets away right before he was going to be arrested.I was so surprised he got away because how can anyone get away so quickly. I love to read these types of books. They are so strange!

I chose to do the question that says how did previewing the book help you decide to read the book? When I peview a book I usually will go to the back of the book to see what the book is about. Also, if reading the back of the book makes me interested, I will read the first couple of pages to make sure the book makes sense. Also, reading the first couple of pages helps me determine if the book is to hard or to easy. Also, when I preview the book I look for key text and italicized words. Finally i love to look at the chapter names to see what each chapter is about and sometimes there are some wacky names that I think are cool!

  37. I am reading the book Captain Underpants and the Wrath of the Wicked Wedgie Woman. I was surprised about the part when Captain Underpants said his catch phrase and robot George and Harold made there arms and legs extend, then made a rocket pop out of there back and fly away. That wouldn’t be something you’d see everyday.

  38. In my book Custer’s Fall, I thought it was clever of the author to quote Indians from the battle. The number of Indians also surprised me. It’s amazing how many smaller tribes were in the Sioux Cheyenne tribes. What’s very surprising is that before the Little Bighorn a U.S. general lead a savage attack on the southern Cheyenne. That is what I found interesting.

  40. I am reading “Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan. It is about a boy in sixth grade who thinks he has dyslexia and thinks he is kicked out of each school he goes to just because he is a bad student (he has went to a different school for each grade). But truly he is being kept safe when everyone knows he is the child of one of the greatest Greek gods in history. His best friend is a Satyr, his favorite teacher is centaur and his least favorite teacher is a monster. The worst part is he lost the person who mattered most to him … his mom. Soon after, he goes on an adventure to stop the biggest war in history, help his friend and find his loving, sweet mom. But all of it is going to happen in the Underworld.

  41. How did the preview help you select the book you’re reading now? Book: Each little bird that sings By: Deborah Wiles.
On the front cover it said that it was a national book award finalist and that must be a really good book if it made it to the finals. Also above the award it says by the author of the award winning Love, ruby lavender. So that means Deborah just hasn’t won one award she has won two. While I was skimming the text I saw that someone was writing letters to other people in the book. When I was looking at the front cover it looks like a girl and her dog are just sitting on a rock looking so alone. So I want to find out what happened and what will happen next.
